Hyla is the new project from Alex Hayes (ex-Abbe May / The Silents), taking influence from seminal dream pop, garage and shoegaze artists like MBV, Ride and Spacemen 3. Backed by a bonafide super-group of Perth musos including Axel Carrington (Rag N Bone), Michael Ewings (Spilt Cities) and Darren Stapley (Lanark), Hyla’s live show is a mesmerising experience, with Hayes’ earnest and sophisticated pop sensibilities delicately balanced amidst swirling arrangements that are beautiful and chaotic.
